Contractor Takes Business To A New
Level With Cutting Edge Technology
Peter J. Minegar, President of Minegar Contracting knows a thing or two about concrete con-
tracting. He has been a concrete contractor since 1977 in Temecula, California. In his first 17
years, he placed 20 million square feet of industrial and commercial slabs. Since purchasing
Somero equipment nine years ago, he has placed over 300 million square feet.
Somero Enterprises asked Minegar Contracting to try out a brand new Laser Screed
®
 the
Somero SXP. He put the machine to the test and the results were amazing. Peter and his crew
absolutely loved how the machine worked and looked. The SXP showed tremendous
improvements in efficiency, accuracy and quality of placement.
"With the new rotating head feature of the Somero SXP, we found that we had a much longer
reach - up to 25'. This is truly one of the best improvements made to the original laser screed."
Minegar states.
Benefits of the SXP are:
· Increased "F' numbers up to 20%! Fix cold joints! Soft Landing and vibrator delay for
smoother touch downs and more accurate passes.
· Improved Productivity up to 25%! Faster cycle times, larger effective screed-head width,
and advanced electronics.
· Save labor! Faster set-up, clean-up and maintenance. User friendly interface shortens
training time.
· Versatility! Power Rotating head enables operator to skirt obstructions, operate along walls,
and extend reach.
· Less operator fatigue! Better operator ergonomics, new seat, advanced controls.
· Ease of transportation! Improved balance with center of gravity in the lower chassis.
Tom Brackin, owner of Triple Star Construction and customer of Peter Minegar, had this to say
about the new SXP. "The rotating head was super, we placed an entire 150,000 square foot
retail shopping center full of pipes, chases and penetrations, we literally did not have to hand
rod anything!!!"
Peter Minegar knows what it takes to be a leader in this industry. In fact, he purchased two
Somero SXP Laser Screeds.

Boosts Productivity
Concrete contractor finds the CopperHead Laser Screed the perfect
machine to place flat floors at local Lowe's home improvement store.
Tony and P.J. Lampasona, owners of Lampasona Concrete Corporation (LCC) in Franklin,
Massachusetts won a contract for a Lowe's home improvement store in a suburb of Boston.
Having owned their concrete flooring business for 10 years, the Lampasonas knew they wouldn't be able to
achieve the F-numbers required by Lowe's without using a Laser Screed. At the time, LCC owned two
ride-on Somero S-240 Laser Screeds. The specs required double mat rebar and their big machines wouldn't
be useable on the job. With 147,000 s.f. of floor to pour, they turned to Somero for their solution.
Somero solved LCC's problem with the CopperHead XD. LCC put the machine to the test. They poured
72,000 s.f. the first two days and 25,000 s.f. a day for the remainder of the job. On the outside garden
center, with a slope and the double mat rebar, LCC poured 40,000 s.f. in 7 hours!
"I knew there was no way we would ever have achieve the F-numbers without using the CopperHead. We
saved money on backcharges after the floor was placed because we met the specs when the floor went in,"
said Tony.
P.J. Lampasona said, "The CopperHead is a perfect fit in our line of laser screeds, we use it almost everday."
The CopperHead XD is the right machine for contractors who want
better performance when they encounter difficult applications such as:
· Chaired rebar
· Lower slump
· Poor subgrades
Benefits of the CopperHead XD are:
· Faster screeding due to elimination of wet pads
· Flatter strike-off due to continuous laser control
· Fewer man-hours due to less manual effort
The CopperHead XD's compact and lightweight design insures ease of operation. It uses Somero's patented
laser leveling technology to cut the concrete to a finished grade, screed it flat and vibrate it smooth in one
pass. The hydraulic drive motors keep the XD pulling low slump concrete and riding smoothly over chaired
rebar and other obstacles.
