Mini Screed™ Testimonial

Ezra Aho, owner of Aho Concrete, LLC in South Carolina, likes how easy it is to transport the Mini Screed in the back of his pick-up truck. After receiving a prototype for a demo, he couldn't wait to get into some concrete with it. Since he remembered how to set the laser points from a previous demonstration of the larger CopperHead® Laser Screed®, he proceeded to pour a 2,000 square foot slab and garage floor with the Mini Screed without any further training. That was all it took for him to know that the Mini Screed was just what he needed to give his business a competitive edge, and he bought the first new Mini Screed to come off the production line.

“Being able to consistently pour a residential slab to the same flatness standards previously found only in commerical work gives me a quality edge that keeps my business prosperous - even in a slower market,” said Aho.

Somero Mini Screed in action

A small company of approximately 10 employees, Aho Concrete, LLC has been pouring concrete slabs for residential construction since 1999, averaging between 600-650 houses per year in the last three years. After pouring more than 3,000,000 square feet of concrete slabs, they are considered experts in residential concrete construction. Using the Mini Screed, the average slab that would take them 2-hours to complete by hand with a five-man crew, now can be completed in about an hour with one less crew member needed.

“With the Mini Screed I can pour a 2,000 square foot slab using just four crew members - one on the screed, two rakers and one 'maging' (hand troweling) the edges - in half the time as by hand, plus the finish is nicer,” said Aho. “The quality of the slabs is a sure thing without needing a highly-trained crew. It's great to be able to Laser Screed around pipes, acheive an incredible flatness and then throw the machine in the back of a my pick-up to get to the next job.”
