Somero Concrete Institute – Hands-On Training

Classes are available at our Global Headquarters, which includes the home of our Somero Concrete Institute (SCI) training facility. We are constantly trying to find ways to make our training more time efficient and effective for you, our customers. Using past surveys as well as constant customer feedback, we’ve modified our training calendar and classes to be more flexible throughout the year to better fit your needs. If our class schedule doesn’t fit your needs, please contact us so we can try to accommodate your scheduling needs as best we can. Come place some concrete with us in one of our many classes throughout the year!  Confirmation of available class space is required prior to making any further arrangements.    

Note: First Day of Class begins at 8:30am (Eastern Standard Time)                                           

Please no recording of our classes. We have our LMS online video training available instead. Please wear appropriate attire to class. Long pants – sleeved shirts (no sleeveless Tee’s or graphic messaging), and safe/comfortable work boots

Our training takes place in sunny Southwest Florida at our Executive Offices, 14530 Global Parkway, Fort Myers, FL 33913. Fly into Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW).

Course Descriptions

“DRY” S-28EZ Oasis “Basics” –  This is for NEW operators, who’ve never screeded or used our equipment before; or operators changing control systems ( i.e. – they’ve run only PA or GCS controls, now going to Oasis controls)      Note: No concrete placed in this course. “DRY” 3D Version 17+ “Basics”– , this class is “DRY” without concrete being placed  using Version 17+ “with T-100 Tablet” – This is a “Basics” class for NEW operators or Existing operators with older/previous 3D systems that have updated to the T-100 tablet. Please note: Software version makes a huge difference. Make sure you’re attending the correct class. Course # SCI-30003-DRY

“DRY” S-940 “Basics” – This is a “Basics” class for NEW operators to learn the controls and basic operational functionality of the S-940, along with laser transmitter setup and location.  Note: No concrete placed in this course     Course # SCI-10004-DRY

“DRY” S-485 “Basics” –  This is a “Basics” class for NEW operators to learn the controls and basic operational functionality of the S-485, along with laser transmitter setup and location.  Note: No concrete placed in this course     Course # SCI-10005-DRY

“DRY” Somero Line Dragon “Basics” – This is for NEW operators. This is a 2 day “DRY” class including safe setup, operator & machine controls, maintenance, and proper cleaning techniques. Combine both the Dragger and the Puller, making hose connections – and operation with “system” line in the parking lot.              Note: No concrete placed in this course.  Course # SCI-10006-DRY

“In the Mud” S-15R “Basics” – This class will go over the basics of operating the S-15R.  You will learn basic head set up, machine operations, and maintenance of the machines.  Please wear clothing that is suitable for placing concrete using the S-15R.   ***This class will be placing concrete during the second day of class.   Course # SCI-10002-MUD

“In the Mud” SRS-4 Oasis “Basics”  – This class will go over the basics of operating the SRS-4. You will learn basic head set up, machine operations, and proper maintenance. Please wear clothing that is suitable for placing concrete using the SRS-4. ***This class will be placing concrete during the second day of class. Course # SCI-10010-MUD

  • 3D theory
  • Complete a basic Site Survey in the parking lot

  • Computer use, Nodes, Surfaces, Mesh
  • UTS total station calibration, changing radio channels
  • More Site Surveys
  • 3D machine installation, machine setup & use

  • Slope Floors including transmitter use & placement, setting up your screed
